The Braves have acquired left handed reliever Will Ohman and infielder Omar Infante from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for minor league reliever Jose Ascanio. The acquisition of Ohman virtually assures the Braves that Ron Mahay will not return. In Ohman’s MLB career Lefties are only hitting .196 against him. He will be the lefty specialist in 2008 for the Braves. Omar Infante will replace Chris Woodward as the Braves’ utility infielder. If Infante can contribute anything to the Braves this upcoming season, he will be a big upgrade over Woodward. Collectively the pair will make roughly 3.1 million dollars this year. The Braves gave up a promising young reliever in Jose Ascanio. Ascanio made his major league debut this past year with the Braves. During his time up in the show he compiled he pitched in 6 games, had an ERA of 5.06 with a win-loss record of 1-1. The Braves also designated OF Willie Harris for assignment to make room on the roster.
