Game 3

Filed under: Recaps — rlgv @ 10:41 pm

The Braves got one in the win column tonight and they did it in a big way. All spring we heard about the high powered offense we were going to have. We heard about the big switch hitters in the middle, followed by McCann and Frenchy. We heard how many runs we were going to score. Tonight, we saw that happen. The Braves bashed out 10 runs on 13 hits. A pretty impressive night.

Jair Jurrjens pitched 5.1 solid innings in his first outing as a Brave, giving up only 2 runs. Not bad for a number five starter in his first outing of the season. He scattered seven hits, but only one walk, striking out five in the process. Bennett finished off the sixth, not allowing a hit or a walk. Acosta recovered nicely from his dreadful outing last night. He went an inning perfectly. Moylan, Ring and Resop each faced one batter without allowing a hit. Ohman pitched the ninth, perfectly. A good night of the Braves pitchers.

The bats, that is what tonight’s story is about. Seven of the Braves had a hit and every single position player scored a run. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the highlights. Escobar continues to swing a hot bat, with 2 hits, 1 HR, 3 RBI. Diaz contributed 2 hits of his own, one long ball, 2 driven in. Prado, subbing in for KJ, did quite well, 2 hits, a walk, 3 runs scored. That’s the production we need at the top of the order. Chipper had a 2 for 3 day, with 2 RBI. Tex, a slow starter (?), had two hits of his own, including a long home run. Wow.

Hopefully we see more of these Braves in the future.

  1. Thank God.

Seriously, over the last few days I wondered if I’d ever draw enough inspiration to write about the Braves again. I feel a little better now.
