I try to keep these recaps positive, I really do. I try to focus on the good things the Braves do rather than the negative. But, these last three games have really made that difficult, with this game the hardest of the three. Every time the Braves managed to chip away at the lead, the Rockies answered back with twice the number of runs, at least.
Today was the return of Chuck James. Lucky for him, he hadn’t even had a chance to pack his bags to report to Richmond yet. Unlucky for us, he missed the bulk of spring training. So, it was pretty much eight months off and here’s the ball. The results were what you might expect, even from Chuck James. He struggled with control, hit 3 batters, walked 1 in just 3 innings. He was effective, if not outstanding at times, but inconsistent. His line was 3 innings, 5 hits, 6 runs and 5 Ks. Bennett was brought in for long relief. He did pretty well, 3 innings, 3 hits, one run and no walks. Resop pitched the last 2 innings, not so well, giving up 5 runs.
The bats were better tonight scoring 5 runs. A few points of concern, we still seem to have no plan before going to the plate, KJ still hasn’t drawn a walk and Tex is still batting .167. McCann had an outstanding game, ripped the cover off the ball almost every time he stepped up, 3 hits, 1 double, a HR, and 3 RBI lifting his average to .333. Chipper continues to have a sweet stroke adding 2 hits of his own with an RBI. His power swing can’t be far behind. Escobar had 2 hits as well, one a double. Hopefully when Tex comes around, the rest of the offense will as well.
Tomorrow’s game, weather permitting, 3:05 PM, not nationally televised.

A win once in a while would be nice.
