Game 10

Filed under: Recaps — rlgv @ 11:39 pm

The Braves (finally) won one. “Half” the team showed up. The “half” I am referring to is, of course, the pitching. Huddy certainly had his “A” game going, and Moylan was more than up to replacing the ailing Soriano. The bats still haven’t come around yet, but at least showed signs of life.

As I mentioned, Huddy was outstanding. He went eight amazing innings limiting the Nats to only 3 hits, 2 walks, striking out 5. On the night, he lowered his ERA to 2.14. Moylan pitched the ninth and was overpowering. He struck out 2 of the batters he faced. We’re going to need more pitching outings like this, at least until the bats come around.

On to the bats, which were largely quiet tonight. The big blow came from Matt Diaz, his 2 run single in the ninth plated a couple of “just in case” insurance runs. Escobar launched a home run. Excluding the ninth, the Braves bats were limited to only 5 hits. Enough tonight, but not every night.

Tomorrow’s game, 1:05 PM. Not nationally televised.
