Braves Report

Game 14

by rlgv on Apr.16, 2008, under Recaps

Well, at least I got a lot of work done during this game. This is getting to be a really frustrating. The Braves are becoming masters of falling behind and almost coming back. Anyway, the Braves did score 5 runs, but never managed to hold a lead for more than half an inning. Still, at least the Braves showed signs of life, I guess…

Huddy just didn’t have it today, which is something we just can’t afford. We need Huddy, Smoltz and Glavine to perform if this team is going to have any chance of success. Huddy went 3 ineffective innings. He gave up six hits and 4 runs, all earned. Campillo has been impressed since being called up and today he was a lifesaver. He pitched 3 innings, perfectly. Can’t ask for more than that! Bennett, perhaps showing signs of fatigue, only managed one inning, giving up 3 hits, one of them a 2 run shot. Boyer ended the game, didn’t allow anyone to reach base.

The bats were a little more lively, but I really feel our hitters are pressing. Its like they are trying to hack their way out of the slump. Diaz, right now, is just swinging at anything (but tonight it worked). Grounding into 3 double plays didn’t help tonight, either. Escobar was amazing. He just keeps hitting and hitting and hitting. He had 2 more hits tonight with a walk, one hit was a home run. He scored a run and drove in two. Frenchy also had 2 hits one a double. He scored twice. Diaz also had 2 singles.

Tomorrow’s game, 7:10 PM. Not nationally televised.
