AAA Braves Recap

Filed under: Recaps — rlgv @ 12:06 am

Now, I am sad the Richmond Braves are leaving. I hadn’t been to a game since high school, when I went quite a bit, but I really enjoyed it. “The Diamond”, while isn’t the state of the art stadium it once was, is still an awful nice place to watch a game. But with a crowd so small you could pretty much count them, it’s not a surprise they are leaving.

I don’t really follow the R Braves that closely, winning or losing isn’t really that important compared to the development of the players here, so occasionally I peak at the stats, see how certain players are doing, and that’s about it. Onto the game.

The players you might expect to see later this year really came through. First off, Josh Anderson showed off his impressive speed when he beat out a bunt single (even though he was called out) and walk, coming around to score. Brandon Jones looked great out there as well. He showed off some speed, taking an extra base on a single, he also had 2 hits, and scored a run. Thor, who we all remember, had been struggling, but tonight he had a solid night at the plate, 3 hits, 2 RBI, 2 runs. Joe Borchard absolutely tattooed a 3 run home run.

The Braves pitchers were magnificent tonight. Rouwenhorst started the game, pitched brilliantly for 5 innings, only allowing one run. Stockman, who we will be seeing in Atlanta, went 2 innings. Only one person reached base.

To close, I’ll just list a few stats that may interest you.

J Anderson, .280
B Jones, .271
S Thorman, .221
J Borchard, .250

P Stockman, 1.04
Ridgway, 2.70

  1. Looks like Thorman doesn’t have much of a future with the Braves…I can’t imagine him being pulled up to play first base when he’s now proven that his struggles in the majors has extended into the minor leagues.
