Game 33

Filed under: Recaps — rlgv @ 5:11 pm

Wow. That’s really all there is to say about the streak we are on. We have it all working, we are even getting lucky breaks every now and again. This was a game that really could have gotten out of hand. The Braves were down 1 - 4. Not one, but two pitchers were pulled early due to injuries. The bats spent the early part of game quiet. But, when it was all done, with one out in the ninth the Braves finally pushed the winning run across.

As I mentioned it was a rough day for Braves pitchers. Jojo started, he was shaky early on and right as he seemed to be settling in, a blister formed and he was done. Buddy Carlyle was next. He made great play to get an out, but the runner smashed into his head, taking him out of the game. Lucky for us, that was the extent of the Braves injuries. Jojo went 2.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Carlyle went 2, one hit, one run, on walk and 2 Ks. Campy pitched 1.1 innings, 2 hits, one run. Bennett went 1.2 innings (guess he won’t be starting this weekend?), no hits, no runs. Ring did his job, again, getting the lefty out. Ohman went .2 innings and Acosta got the Win pitching .1.

It took awhile, but with a little help from the Padres, we pushed enough runs across to win. In fact, the run pushed across in the ninth was the first earned run of the day for the Braves. Omar Infante got his first hit as a Brave. Escobar was the big hero, he had two hits, took extra bases every chance he got and scored 3 runs. Of course Diaz drove in the go ahead run in the ninth.

Tomorrow’s game, 7:05 PM. Not nationally televised.
