It’s going to be really hard to win games when you leave 13 (15 total) runners on. The Pirates did everything they could to let us win this game. They walked six Braves. They allowed eight hits. They even went so far as to commit four errors. With all this help, how many runs do you think the Braves managed to push across? None. That’s right, none. How does a team commit four errors without allowing an opponents to cross the plate? The Braves need to get this stick out of their… well, you know, when it comes to away games.
Jurrjens did well, again. He truly has been the rock of this rotation. Smoltz has been on the DL, Huddy has been (a little) inconsistent, but Jurrjens has given us a good outing every time he has pitched. Today he gave us six innings only allowing 3 hits, unfortunately, those three hits led to three runs thanks, in part, to three walks. Bennett came in and pitch two innings, not allowing a run. It seems he wanted to give the Braves every chance to get back into this game. Acosta, in a non-save situation, allowed two runs on a home run.
Chipper was on the brink of falling below .400, but he couldn’t let that happen. With three hits this game, he lifted his average back up to .410. Frenchy had 2 hits, both for singles. If that wasn’t enough bad news for us, Tex was pulled in the fourth with back spasms.
Next game, 4:00 today. Not nationally televised.

Well, that was pathetic. The Pirates had 5 hits, and they plated 5 runs. The Braves had 8, and nothing to show for it?
