Game 37

We won on the road. Doesn’t it feel good just to say it? We won on the road. Hopefully, this unblocks whatever mental block the Braves had and we can quit this Jekyll/Hyde home/away dichotomy. Anyway, we won six, then lost three, if we keep that going the rest of the season, we’ll be fine. But, I still worry that this team isn’t doing the “little things” right. Everyone seems to want to be the hero, no one wants to hit to the right side to get the runner over. Everyone seems to want to hit a home run, when a sac fly will do. But, a win is a win, and I will take it, even if it comes against the woeful Pirates.
Huddy was brilliant. With his last two starts, I think I will stop worrying about the ugliness of his two earlier starts this season. He went seven innings limiting the Bucs to only two hits and one run, striking out five along the way, just amazing. Boyer pitched the eighth, one hit and 2 strikeouts. Ohman got into a little trouble in the ninth, allowing 2 hits, but pitched out of it without giving up a run.
Finally, I have something worth talking about in this section, even better, something good to talk about. The Braves pounded out 8 runs on 14 hits. Every Brave who started the game got a hit. I’ve said it before, when the top two in the lineup get on, they get driven in. Today was no exception. KJ and Escobar each had two hits and each scored a run. Frenchy seems to be shaking off his mini slump, he had three hits and scored two runs. Kotsay raised his average up to .310 with three hits and three RBI. The biggest single blow came when McCann drove in three with a home run.
Tomorrow’s game, 7:05 PM. Not nationally televised.

Amazing how they can be shutout the first game, then beat up on the Pirates in the second.
