Braves Report

There is no better team at home than the Braves, period. Tonight, everything was working, everything. Jurrjens looked great, the bats were on a tear, the Braves could just do no wrong, in the process handing the Mets another embarrassing loss. With this win, the Braves climb to four games over .500 and hold on to second place in the division.

Jurrjens continues to be the most consistent pitcher on the team. Sure, he hasn’t had as many dominating performances as Huddy, but he also hasn’t had nearly as many poor ones either. His line tonight, seven innings pitched, five hits, one earned run, and only two walks. That is just a great outing, especially after the double header yesterday, giving the pen a little rest. Bennett came in next, didn’t do to well, but it didn’t matter. By the time he came in, the Braves had scored 11. He gave up two runs. Resop pitched the ninth, perfectly.

The Brave bats were amazing. We pounded out 14 hits, 11 runs, and walked eight times. We hit for power, we hit seeing eye hits, we hit everything. McCann, for the moment, has replaced Chipper as the hottest hitter on the Braves. Tonight he had three hits, a double, three runs scored, and two RBI. But, he wasn’t the only one tearing the cover off the ball. Tex also had three hits, two for doubles, three RBI and two runs score. Not done yet, Frenchy’s half day off seemed to have helped, also three hits. He had a home run, a triple and a single, four RBI, and a run scored. KJ had two singles and Chipper’s lone hit (to go with 2 walks) was a home run.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out the Mets have now hit four Braves in two games. Chipper got plucked in the shin and had to be taken out. Throw in a couple “questionable” slides by Church, this seems to be a Mets team that is really frustrated.

Braves win again, 11-4.
