Four game sweep of the Mets. Four Game Sweep of the Mets! FOUR GAME SWEEP OF THE METS!! Glad I got that off my chest. While I do my best not to “hate” other teams, I have to admit I enjoy it a little more when we beat the Mets. The arrogance some of of their players has really turned me off. It was an incredible series for the Braves, we really couldn’t have asked for them to do any more, our pitchers were amazing for this series, starters and pen, the bats were solid, and the hustle! The Braves played like they WANTED to win, not just hoped.
Huddy got off to a tiny bit of a rocky start, giving up two runs in the second via home run, but compared to what he did the rest of the game, those two home runs were meaningless. He was truly amazing after that. He made the pitches when he needed to, and for chunks of the game, was untouchable. He went eight innings, allowed seven hits and only the two runs. Better still he didn’t allow a walk, against 4 strikeouts. Acosta pitched to three batters in the ninth, allowing only a hit. Ohman pitched to the last batter for his first save. A fantastic night for Braves pitchers.
We were facing a pretty good pitcher, so we knew runs would be at a premium, and they were. But, the Braves clearly had a plan at the plate and executed it. It took some time, but the bats finally broke through and went ahead in the seventh. KJ has pushed his average up to almost .300. Hopefully, he will never lead off again, as this seems to be working. He had three hits tonight, one for a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Kotsay, two hits with a run scored. Chipper, apparently the HBP didn’t bother him too badly, had two hits with a run driven in. Tex had another nice game with two hits, an RBI, and a run.
Braves complete the sweep, 4 - 2.
