This is getting really disappointing. When you have your best pitcher going, against a well sub .500 team you really expect to win, really. But, Huddy didn’t really have his best stuff, a defensive let down, a wild pitch and the game gets out of hand. Luckily, we are headed back home where things are better, but if we want to compete for the division, we are going to have to get this “away” monkey off our back.
As I said, Huddy didn’t have his “best” stuff, but he didn’t do two badly either. He gave us a quality start, six innings, 3 ERs. But, he did give up seven hits and three walks (and allowed two home runs). He didn’t dominate, but he gave his team a chance to win, which is really all you can ask. The pen pitched the last two innings of the game. Ring came in to get out the lefty, which he did. Boyer wasn’t as good. He pitched to three batters, two runs scored (neither earned), gave up a hit and a walk. Carlyle ended the game, pitching 1.1 innings allowing two walks and that is it.
The Braves only managed six hits, which isn’t too many, but two of them were long balls. One crushed by Tex (is he FINALLY heating up?) and the other by McCann. Aside from those two shots, the Braves didn’t manage too much offense.
Braves lose, 2-6.
Tomorrow’s game, 7:10 PM. Not nationally televised.
