When was the last time the Braves made it through a day without a player getting hurt? It feels like it’s been a while. Anyway, Jurrjens couldn’t go tonight. Inability to put one foot in front of the other while climbing stairs and he misses a start. So, right now our only healthy starter from the start of the season is Hudson. I’m not sure I’d let him take the mound, it’s just too dangerous. Our thin pitching and limited hitting is really starting to catch up with us.
Bennett got the call on very short notice and didn’t fair well at all. He gave up three runs in the first, two in the second, and three in the third. With the way the bats have been, that puts the game out of reach. He also gave up seven hits and two walks. Since the game was pretty much over in the first, the pen was magnificent. Stockman went two innings, no runs, one hit, two walks. Ridgway, no runs, one hit. Ring went a perfect inning. Boyer went an inning, one hit.
Not much to report hitting wise. We only managed four hits. The big “blow” was by Corky Miller, a two run home run.
Braves lose, 7 - 2.
Tommorrow’s game 2:20 PM on WGN.

Good to see Ridgway as a beam of hope during this period.
But they can’t expect to win many games when they give up 7 in the first two innings.
