Is there any team in baseball better at coming from behind and losing by one run? I don’t think so. Errors early put the Braves in a hole and they were (again) almost able to climb out of it. I’m tired of saying, “This is a game we should have won.” So I won’t.

Errors really killed our chances today. The errors in the first, two by Frenchy one by Escobar but the team in a hole early, and we were never able to get back on top. Morton looked good, he went six innings giving up only two earned run (four total). He allowed seven hits and struck out four in his losing effort. He deserved better. Acosta pitched two solid innings (for a change). He allowed no runs, no hits and only one walk. Boyer, who tends to pitch better when the game isn’t on the line, went one perfect inning.

Nothing to write home about behind the plate. Blanco has not been impressive as a lead off hitting. He was O - 4 today and his average is down to .242. Big Tex had a big day. He had two hits, one for a home run, two runs and two RBI. Frenchy did his best to make up for his errors with two hits.

Braves lose 3 - 4.

Today’s game, 1:05 PM
