Game 85

Campy

The injuries to the pitching staff are really starting to wear on this team. Next year, I don’t think we can count on Smoltz, we are going to have to make a move for a bonafide front of the rotation starter. Campy has done a great job with the role he was thrown into, but he is being forced to carry more of the load that we should expect of him.

Campy didn’t have a great outing, five innings, five runs, including two home runs. This lose brings his record to 3-3, but one of those loses was a tough luck loss. He is still sporting an ERA under three. The pen didn’t do well. Bennett and Ohman were solid, neither giving up a run. Boyer gave up a run, as did Ring.

It looks like getting Chipper and Kotsay back in the line up wasn’t a cure all. No Brave managed more than on hit, but we did hit for quite a bit of power. Tex launched a double. Gotay and Chipper each had a home run, accounting for all the Braves RBI. (Frenchy did GIDP to drive in a run).

Braves lose, 3 - 7.

Tomorrow’s game 7:10 not nationally televised.
