Game 92
by BenMurphy on Jul.10, 2008, under Recaps
I apologize for the lateness of this recap, but sometimes it’s hard to get excited enough to write about this team. Wednesday’s rubber match against the Dodgers was one of those games. The offense once again proved feeble, and dropped another one in an almost pathetic fashion.
I’ll start with pitching, because, all things considered, they did pretty damn well. Hudson started the game, and he had a pretty solid outing. He went 7 innings, gave up 4 hits, and 2 ER (one on a solo shot by Kemp, another on a single by Andruw [batting .171]). He also walked two and struck out 4. Boyer came and relieved him, only giving up a single in his inning of work. Not too bad, but without any run support, they were doomed from the start.

The offense, to put it succinctly, sucked. Two hits. Two. TWO! And it took them seven innings to get their first one. This came by Gregor Blanco, who was eventually stranded at third. The next inning, the Braves avoided a shutout with a solo shot by Francoeur. Welcome back, Jeff (hopefully)! As for everyone else, Kotsay had a walk. Not much, and certainly not enough to win the ballgame. Bring back Tuesday’s offense, and bring it back with some consistency, please.
Braves lose the game and the series, 2 – 1.
No game tonight. Next game, Friday, in San Diego, 10:05 PM EST.
