Well, the predictions we made for this game were wrong. Really wrong. We expected the Braves to get shut down by Maddux, like the second coming of Cy Young. That didn’t happen, and the Braves were able to even the series up at 1 game apiece.
Morton started this game and had a decent outing, albeit a short one. He lasted 5 and 1/3 innings, while allowing 4 hits and a run. He struck out 4 and walked 3. Not bad, not great. Ohman relieved him with 2/3 of an inning, and was perfect. Boyer pitched two innings after him, he didn’t allow a hit and recorded 3 strikeouts. Gonzo came in for the save, and nailed it down with a K.
The offense showed up during the game, and took the lead early in the game with a sacrifice fly by Blanco. Other notable offensive measures were Chipper going 3 for 4 with 2 singles and a double. Tex had a single. Francoeur had 2 hits, including a 2-RBI single. Lillibridge went 2 for 3 and smacked his first career home run in the Majors.

All told, the Braves tallied up 8 hits and 4 runs. Perhaps this is a sign of things to come (desperately hoping).
Braves take this one, 4 - 1.
Today’s game, right now, 4 PM EST start, in San Diego.
