Game 115

Charlie Morton has arrived. This was his second good outing in a row and this one was good. Even better, the bats decided to show up in support!

Morton went seven amazing innings. He limited the D’backs to only five hits, and more impressively, no runs! I don’t know what else you can say about that kind of outing, it was just great. Sadly, Boyer wasn’t quite so good, doing everything he could to give the game back to Arizona. In .2 innings, he allowed four runs to cross. I don’t know if he is just overworked, or not as good as people believe, but his ERA is creeping up close to five again. Gonzo had to come in to save the day, and he did, 1.1 perfect innings.

Top of the order was on today. Three of our first four hitters had multiple hits, and more often than not, got driven in. Blanco got it done in the lead off spot, with two hits and two runs scored. Escobar also had two hits, scoring once and driving in two. Also getting in on the acting, McCann, our new clean up batter, with two hits and an RBI.

Braves win this, 6 - 4.

Today’s game, 9:40 PM. Not nationally televised.

  1. Charlie and Campy … both dudes threw it great the past two nights.

Charlie pitched with confidence, attacked the strike zone, looked like he believed in himself up there. That’s two great outings in a row. Heaven knows he has the stuff to succeed at the major-league level.

Campillo continues to impress. Dude just pounds the strike zone (two walks in his past 29 innings). Got a little tired toward the end last night, but man, after that leadoff homer, he was about as good as it gets from there through the fifth.

Welcome back Chipper. Good night at the plate for Kotchman and Prado. Time to take on the big guns the next two days (Haren and Webb).

    Bud.

  2. Your comment got flagged for some reason, so I apologize that it took so long to get posted.

I really hope Morton keeps this up. It’d be a tremendous confidence boost and he’d add some stability to the very inconsistent starting pitching staff.
