This is getting painful, both watching the games, and writing these recaps. I really don’t have any other ways to express my disappointment with this team. I realize it isn’t all their fault. Injuries have played a roll, as has a poor pitching coach. But, this is just getting ridiculous.
Hampton is showing he can still pitch. Pitching around the league is so thin, he just might find a job next year (hopefully not in Atlanta). Last night, he went six solid innings, giving up eight hits. Of course, a few of the hits were of the seeing eye variety. Along the way he gave up only three runs, coming out with the lead. Unfortunately, again, the pen could not hold the lead. Bennett came in for the 7th, couldn’t finish the inning, started walking people, and was charged with the tying run. Ohman blew a save allowing Hampton’s run to cross. Tavarez (somehow) was solid, going 1.1 innings of one hit ball. Nunez pitched the 9th, well part of the 9th. He only got one out before giving up the losing run.
Braves managed nine hits, but left eight on base. Two hitters were outstanding. First Escobar, he had three hits, including a home run and a double, scored twice and drove in one. McCann was also on fire, also with three hits, one for a double, with two RBI.
Braves lose (and lose and lose) 4 – 5.
Today’s loss, I mean game, 8:15 PM.

Oh, you were right, man, it was a loss … an epic loss. It takes some doing to give up 18 runs and 26 hits, to let the opposing pitcher not only get the victory on the mound, but to go 3-for-5 at the plate.
Man, this team sucks … it’s getting tougher to watch by the day.
Bud.
