Game 153
by rlgv on Sep.19, 2008, under Recaps
Another day, another loss at home to the Phils. The Phils beat the braves every game they played at Turner Field. No one has swept the Braves at home in as many games since 1909. But, that is just the way this season has been going.
Another good outing for Hammy. If it weren’t for a couple errors, Hampton (and the Braves) would have won. He went seven innings, allowing only six hits and only gave up two earned runs. The pen was solid today, Tavarez and Bennett each went a scoreless inning.
The Braves managed eight hits, which is good, but only pushed two runs across. Not as good. The hits were spread out, every starter (except Hampton) had one hit. No one had more than one hit.
Braves lose, 3 – 4.

Hampton didn’t throw it too bad. Just got a couple of pitches up and the Phils have a tendency to pound a pitcher’s mistakes. Couldn’t get much going against Hamels after the first. Good to see Kotchman finally hit a homer for the Bravos. I still think he’s a 15-to-20 homer guy.
Went to the game last night and it was fun. Good to be in the ballpark, even if the team is way out of contention.

I bet it is fun (I’ve always wanted to go see a game at the Ted), but what hasn’t been fun is watching this team play the Phillies and Cubs. Hopefully they’ll rebound tonight, but yeesh.
