Game 158
by rlgv on Sep.25, 2008, under Recaps
Sorry for the lateness of this recap, things have been mad around here. But, the Braves tried to put a crimp on the Phillies’ playoff hopes, much like they did the Mets. Time will tell if they were successful.
Hampton was on his game and got it done. I really hope his performance this season was good enough to get him a job, somewhere, next year. He went six innings, giving up only two hits and two runs. The pen, for a change, did a great job. Ohman, Bennett and Gonzo each pitched a scoreless, hit-less inning.
The bats did just enough to get the win. KJ and Kotchman each had two hits and each drove in a run, the third run scored on an error.
Braves win 3 – 2.

Yeah man, Hampton has looked really good for the most part since coming back. And, he’s shown he’s healthy. I think he’ll be pitching somewhere next season. Veteran leftys who can get outs at the major-league level just about are guaranteed a job in the bigs.
Two wins in a row. Jo-Jo sucked again (what else is new). That blast by Chipper, though, was the cherry on top of his batting title. Now, time to go to Houston and finish strong, then start fixing this thing in the offseason.
Bud.

I would love to see Hampton back here, especially considering most of the potential choices are either unhealthy, unreliable, or just suck.
Hopefully he’ll take a huge pay cut or sign a contract that is primarily based on incentives. After all, he basically did get 2 years worth of salary for free.
